Question 1

What is a concrete overlay?

Accepted Answer

A concrete overlay is a thin, cement-based layer applied over an existing, properly prepared slab. It restores worn, stained, or outdated concrete and can be finished in many colors, textures, and patterns - without the cost of tearing the slab out.

Question 2

Can an overlay cover cracks?

Accepted Answer

It can cover hairline and surface cracks. Structural or moving cracks need to be repaired first, or they can telegraph through any finish. We inspect the slab at your estimate and tell you what it needs.

Question 3

Do overlays work outdoors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Exterior overlays are common on patios, pool decks, walkways, and driveways. They're built to handle foot traffic, sun, and Houston-area weather, and can be textured for traction.

Question 4

How long does an overlay take?

Accepted Answer

Most residential overlays take a few days, including prep, application, and sealing, depending on the size of the area and the finish chosen. We give you a schedule with your written quote.

Question 5

What is polished concrete?

Accepted Answer

Polished concrete is made by grinding the slab through progressively finer abrasives, densifying it, and sealing it for a smooth, reflective finish. It is durable and easy to maintain.

Question 6

What is the difference between stained and polished concrete?

Accepted Answer

Stain changes the color of the concrete; polishing changes the surface sheen. They can be combined - many floors are stained for color and then polished or sealed for protection.

Question 7

Is polished concrete slippery?

Accepted Answer

Finishes range from high-gloss to matte, and slip-resistant options are available for areas that get wet. Tell us how the space will be used and we will recommend the right finish.

Question 8

How do I care for a sealed concrete floor?

Accepted Answer

Sweep or dust-mop regularly, clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, and wipe up spills. Over time, high-traffic floors may benefit from resealing; we explain the routine for your finish.

Question 9

Where is epoxy flooring a good choice?

Accepted Answer

Garages, workshops, warehouses, and commercial spaces use epoxy for its seamless, durable surface. Decorative metallic and marble-look epoxy is also popular in homes.

Question 10

Is epoxy resistant to chemicals and oil?

Accepted Answer

Industrial epoxy systems are designed to resist abrasion, oil, and many chemicals, which is why they are used in demanding commercial and industrial settings.

Question 11

Does the slab need prep before epoxy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Proper grinding, repairs, and a clean, dry surface are essential for a lasting bond. Prep is included in our process.

Question 12

Do you offer free estimates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We visit your property, inspect the slab, bring finish samples, measure, and leave you with a written no-obligation quote.

Question 13

Do you serve both residential and commercial customers?

Accepted Answer

Question 16
